EDUCATION IN CANADA

Education in Canada is available in both the private and public sectors.

PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Private secondary schools set their own entrance criteria and examinations, as well as requiring an annual tuition payment for each year of student enrollment. Every secondary school in Canada adheres to a curriculum framework and outcome benchmarks defined by the provincial government's Ministries of Education.

TERMS

The Full Year program (spanning 3 terms) commences in early September and concludes in mid-June. Students are allowed to study up to eight courses annually from a selection tailored to each grade level. While certain courses are compulsory, others can be selected by students on an elective basis, providing a degree of flexibility in their educational choices.

To successfully complete their education and progress to the next grade level or to pursue university or college applications, students must attend the entire academic year.

PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Canada boasts a plethora of high-quality public secondary schools that provide a wide range of academic courses, technological education, as well as programs in the arts, drama, and music. Many of these schools also offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate program.
